Youth Ministry

The mission of the youth ministry at St. Viator Parish is to actively engage every youth of the community to commit to a personal relationship with Jesus and the values of the gospel, accompanying and mentoring them towards a holistic view of the person within a supportive church community and empowering them to bring healing, hope and transformation to the world where we live.

Vision: Healing, Hope & Transformation
By the virtue of our Baptism we are called to be followers of Jesus Christ and, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to grow in grace, joy and peace, so that God's healing and hope can flow through us to the world.
1. To follow Jesus more faithfully, our parish community is called to mentor youth to love God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength.
As We:
  • Enriching prayer, worship, and community involvement.
This we should accomplish by:
  1. Providing an environment where faith is “lived, deepened and celebrated.”
  2. Nurturing spiritual disciplines such as prayer, scripture reading, theological reflection, community involvement
  3. Encouraging healthy self-esteem and respect for others as we embrace, cultivate and bridge diversity
  4. Modeling biblical stewardship in all areas of life as we gather as a community
  5. Advocating love, peace and justice as the Christian way of life
  6. Guiding responsible decision-making in ethical & lifestyle choices
2. To grow in grace, joy, and peace we invite all youth to be an integral part of our community life.
As we:
  • Call and nurture parish leaders for ministry in a rich and multicultural environment.
  • Practice love, forgiveness, and hospitality that affirm our diversity and heal our brokenness.
By:
  1. Creating a loving and supporting community environment.
  2. Strengthening family life.
  3. Embracing God's gift of multicultural and inter-generational diversity.
  4. Advocating for youth in Church and society.
  5. Calling youth to invest themselves in building up the church through their gifts and skills.

"Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one's weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart."

3. To live as people of healing and hope the Youth Ministry office is committed to call forth the gifts in youth and empower them to minister our community and the world through the power of the Holy Spirit.
As we:
  • Invite others to join us in our faith and therefore follow Jesus.
  • Seek God's peace in our homes, work, neighborhoods, and the world.
By:
  1. Seeking, recognizing, affirming and involving the gifts and talents of youth.
  2. Calling youth to share their vision and faith.
  3. Inviting youth to a lifestyle of missions and service.
  4. Educating, equipping, enabling and empowering youth.
  5. Walking with youth as they live out their faith.
